Evolutionary Ecology is a conceptually oriented journal of basic biology which seeks to publish papers of bold, original research. It defines evolutionary ecology broadly, including much behavioral and community ecology, ecological genetics, applications of optimality theory to ecology and many other topics. It is not biased with respect to taxon or biome. Theoretical as well as empirical contributions are welcome; combinations of the two are most desirable. It does not publish book reviews or review articles unless they achieve a novel synthesis or elucidate a point which, having been clarified, advances the science. upside down text It is not an archive; theoretical papers should be more than an elaboration of previously published analyses and simulations; empircal papers should advance the testing of explicitly stated hypotheses and theoretical predictions, or they should identify novel biological patterns which evoke new theories and hypotheses.
